The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) program is designed for current undergraduate students in the Opus College of Engineering at Marquette University. This opportunity allows students to work with faculty members on research projects and earn a stipend.

Eligibility

  • The program is only open to current undergraduate students in the Opus College of Engineering.
  • Students must find a faculty member to work with, which can be done by talking with their faculty advisor, faculty members they have had for class, or students who have participated in SURF.

Compensation

  • SURF students will earn up to $7,200.
  • The hourly rate is typically $10 to $15 per hour, agreed upon by the student and their faculty mentor.
  • Hours will be logged in "EmpCenter" and students will be paid on a biweekly basis.

Program Details

  • Proposed funded activities can take place from April 1 through December 31 and should have a concentrated effort during the summer.
  • Students and their faculty mentors can discuss particular vacation arrangements.
