Girls Who Code Program
The Girls Who Code program is a pre-college outreach program that is intended for 6th-9th grade students. The program is designed to provide students with a female-centered environment and to promote gender parity in the computing fields.
Program Details
- The program is free to all participants and is sponsored by the Opus College of Engineering.
- Registration includes instruction, space, and materials.
- Students do not need to provide their own computer, as all participants will work in a Marquette University computer lab.
- The program is taught by current college students who are studying engineering or computer science and have passed a technical skills assessment and background check.
- Students will learn the fundamentals of computer science using the Python programming language.
- The program provides a light dinner, but students are encouraged to bring a water bottle or something to drink.
- The program does not provide transportation to or from Marquette University.
