Introduction to the Summer Youth Institute

The Summer Youth Institute (SYI) is a free program designed to introduce students to the legal system, expose them to careers in law, and provide practical tools to help them achieve their educational goals.

Eligibility and Requirements

The SYI is open to students entering the 8th, 9th, or 10th grade next fall. Enrollment is limited to approximately 24 students. This program seeks to enroll students who demonstrate motivation, maturity, and a genuine interest in pursuing academic goals. First-generation college-bound students who use English as a second language are strongly encouraged to apply.

Program Details

• The Summer Youth Institute will occur from July 23 to July 31, 2026.
• The application deadline is March 2, 2026.

Target Audience

The program is designed for students who live and attend school in the City of Milwaukee, as well as those who live in the city but attend a school outside the city.
