Introduction to the ATHENS Network
The ATHENS Network is a consortium of 15 European technological universities or institutions from various countries, including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Turkey. Established in 1997, the primary objective of the Network is to facilitate the exchange of students among major European technological universities.
ATHENS Programme
The ATHENS Programme is an intensive course programme offered by each member institution during two defined periods, or "Sessions," of the academic year, which take place in November and March. This training activity is a unique aspect of the Network.
Programme Structure
Each Session includes:
- 30 hours of scientific coursework
- 10-15 hours of European Dimension Activities
At the conclusion of an ATHENS Session, the Home Institution officially recognizes the work carried out, based on the results obtained on an examination organized by the Host Institution and evaluated according to its proper system of grading. Each complete Session is generally worth 2 to 3 ECTS credits, with the number of credits given depending on the home University.
