MAcc Program Overview

The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) is a non-thesis, professional program designed for students who wish to begin or accelerate their careers in public accounting, private industry, fraud investigation, and/or cost management. It is delivered face-to-face in Barry Hall, located in downtown Fargo. Qualified students may complete the program in one year. Alternatively, students are welcome to earn their degree on a part-time basis if it is a better fit for their schedule.

MAcc Curriculum

The MAcc requires 30 credits for degree completion. Core courses cover applied professional research, financial statement analysis, information systems, and other advanced topics in management accounting. Students may choose electives from a broad array of courses, with topics such as:

Admission

Applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis. Application files must be completed with all required official documents before they will be reviewed. Admission decisions will not be made based upon incomplete application files or unofficial documentation.

Application Instructions

• Domestic Students: May apply to begin the MAcc program in the fall, spring, or summer. There is no application deadline for domestic students.
• International Students: May apply to begin the MAcc program in the fall or spring.
  • The international application deadline for fall semester is May 1.
  • The international application deadline for spring semester is October 1.

Letters of Recommendation

Letters of recommendation are not required for NDSU Accounting undergraduate students/alumni.

Official GMAT or GRE score

Applicants who meet the requirements for consideration of admission in full standing may request a GMAT/GRE waiver from the Graduate Programs Coordinator. Waivers are not guaranteed, but rather are considered on a case-by-case basis. Decisions are made at the discretion of the MAcc admission committee.

Proof of English Proficiency

Proof of English proficiency may be met in one or more of three ways:

1. Raised in a country in which English is the only official language
2. Earned a bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized institution within a country in which English is the only official language
3. Official English language test scoreTOEFL iBT 71 or higher, IELTS academic 6.0 or higher; PTE academic 50 or higher; or Duolingo 105 or higher

Cost

MAcc Program Tuition & Fees:

• North Dakota Residents: $746.82 per credit, $22,405 total (30 credits)
• WRGP Region Residents: $929.71 per credit, $27,891 total (30 credits)
• Approved Minnesota Residents: $1,085.48 per credit, $32,564 total (30 credits)
• All Other U.S. Residents: $1,254.76 per credit, $37,643 total (30 credits)

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantship opportunities within the College of Business are very limited. All MAcc students are admitted without funding. There may be case-by-case opportunities to apply for graduate assistantship positions after having gained admission to the program, but they are not guaranteed.

Scholarships

College of Business graduate student scholarships are quite limited. We do not offer scholarships to new/incoming students. Current graduate students may apply for scholarships by submitting the general university scholarship application during the application window between November 1 and March 1 each year.

Employee Reimbursement

Many companies provide educational benefits to their employees in the form of tuition reimbursement or other financial support. We encourage students who plan to work as benefitted employees during their graduate studies to speak with their supervisor and/or Human Resources department to see if such a program exists for them.

Federal Student Aid

U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens may qualify to be considered for federal student aid by completing the FAFSA. Questions regarding financial aid should be directed to NDSU's One Stop office.
