Program Overview
Stepping On Program
The Stepping On program is a national evidence-based initiative designed to empower older adults to manage their fall risks, develop coping strategies, and implement safety measures in daily life.
Program Description
Falls are the leading cause of injury and death among older Americans, with one in four people aged 65 and older experiencing a fall each year. The consequences of falls are significant, including severe injury, loss of independent living, and limitations on physical activity. The Stepping On program aims to address this critical issue by providing older adults with the knowledge and skills necessary to reduce their fall risk.
Program Structure
The program consists of seven-week workshops, followed by a three-month follow-up session. These workshops are conducted in partnership with the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services.
