NDSU Music Academy

The NDSU Music Academy is a non-degree organization that provides high-quality music education to students from age five years through adult. The Academy allows students to work at their own pace in an encouraging environment. We also provide opportunities for students to perform and interact with each other in a non-competitive atmosphere with a recital in the fall and spring.

The instructors at the Academy are highly qualified NDSU graduate and undergraduate students pursuing degrees in music education, music performance, and conducting. The NDSU Music Academy is housed at Peace Lutheran Church.

Registration and Tuition

Registration for returning students opens on December 1, and for new students on December 6. The tuition fees vary depending on the length and frequency of lessons.

• 30-minute lessons: $24.00 per lesson
• 45-minute lessons: $36.00 per lesson
• 1 hour lessons: $48.00 per lesson There is a $20 registration fee per student for first-time registration only.

Policies

• Make-up lessons: There will be the option of making up one lesson each semester for an excused absence.
• Expectations: Academy students are expected to keep a regular practice schedule, attend all lessons and recitals, and bring their instrument, music, and all lesson materials to each lesson.
• Lesson Location: In-person lessons will take place at Peace Lutheran Church.
• Building Policies: Students and parents must respect the church's property and follow the rules.
• Student Dismissal: Students who are not meeting the expectations may be dismissed at any time with tuition forfeited.
• Cancellation of lessons: The Music Academy will only cancel lessons due to bad weather if NDSU cancels events for that day.
• Withdrawal: Withdrawing from lessons requires written notification to the Academy office.
• Refund Policy: After the first payment has been received, students are obligated to pay for that half of the semester.

Calendar

The Academy follows the NDSU calendar, with lessons taking place during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

• Fall Session: Registration opens on August 1 for returning students and August 6 for new students. Lessons begin on September 8 and end on December 12.
• Spring Session: Registration opens on December 1 for returning students and December 6 for new students. Lessons begin on January 26 and end on May 8.
• Summer Session: Registration opens on May 1 for returning students and May 6 for new students. Lessons begin on June 1 and end on July 31.

Scholarships

Scholarships are available on the basis of need through Excite Music. Students can apply for scholarships by visiting the Excite Music website.
