Women and Gender Studies
The Women and Gender Studies program offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, as well as a minor.
Major Requirements
To complete the major, students must satisfy the following requirements:
- Earn a minimum of 120 credits in approved coursework.
- Complete the general education requirements as specified by the university.
- Maintain a minimum institutional GPA of 2.00 based on work taken at NDSU.
- Complete at least 36 credits in courses numbered 300 or higher.
- Transfer students must earn a minimum of 60 credits from a baccalaureate-degree granting or professional institution, with at least 36 credits being NDSU resident credits.

The following general education requirements must be satisfied:
- Communication (C): 12 credits
- ENGL 110: College Composition I
- ENGL 120: College Composition II
- COMM 110: Fundamentals of Public Speaking
- Upper Division Writing
- Quantitative Reasoning (R): 3 credits
- Science and Technology (S): 10 credits
- Humanities and Fine Arts (A): 6 credits
- Social and Behavioral Sciences (B): 6 credits
- Wellness (W): 2 credits
- Cultural Diversity (D): satisfied by completing courses in another General Education category
- Global Perspectives (G): satisfied by completing courses in another General Education category
- Total Credits: 39
AHSS Degree Requirements
For the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, completion of a minor program of study is required. For the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, second-year language proficiency at the college level is required.
Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences College Requirements
An additional 9 credits are required by the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, which must be satisfied by completing courses in the following areas:
- Area One: Humanities: 3 credits
- ARB, ENGL, FREN, GERM, HIST, HUM, PHIL, RELS, SPAN, TIPS, or WGS
- Area Two: Social Sciences: 3 credits
- ANTH, CJ, COMM, EMGT, POLS, SOC, or WGS
- Area Three: Fine Arts: 3 credits
