Meeting Pattern

The Socio/Psycho Linguistics course modules consist of three 1-credit modules that can be taken separately. Each module includes a specific component of the formal study of language. Phonology/Phonetics, Morphology/Syntax, Semantics/Pragmatics, and Guiding Principles of Ling & Sociolinguistics are prerequisites for this course. Each module can be taken for a letter grade or as Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. The same textbook is used for all 3 modules and for the completion of the Sociolinguistics & Psycholinguistics course module series. Each module can be completed at your own pace, which means you can register for multiple modules per semester as long as you start and finish each one in order.

Description

This course studies how the human brain acquires, processes, and produces language. It also explores the development of bilingual speakers and the effects of specific types of brain damage on language speakers.
