Description
This program connects and learns with ND professionals to discuss basic principles of leadership, wellness, team building, and positivity through reading and referencing a variety of educational texts. Leaders are readers, and participants will learn key points and takeaways from many educational texts as well as implementation ideas from other leaders across the state.
Syllabus, Objectives, and Outcomes
Objectives
Participants will:
- Understand impactful practices learned from educational text(s)
- Learn impactful practices from participating educators and additional texts
- Network and learn through Zoom meetings with professionals around ND
- Share and implement the lessons presented in the texts
Materials
Text
Participants will self-select ANY two educational texts that would benefit their personal wellness practices or classroom instructional practices. Recommended texts may include but are not limited to:
- Any Jon Gordon or Jon Wooden texts
- ADHA 2.0: New Science and Essential Strategies for Thriving with Distraction From Childhood through Adulthood by Edward M. Hallowell M.D. and John J. Ratey M.D.
- What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Health by Oprah Winfrey and Bruce D. Perry
- Chop Wood Carry Water by Joshua Medcalf
- The Happy Teacher Habits: 11 Habits of the Happiest, Most Effective Teachers on Earth by Michael Linsin
Course Requirements
Participants must:
- Read two different educational texts, one self-selected text for each week
- Attend Zoom Meeting Sessions on June 16th and 23th from 8:00 10:00 p.m.
- Be prepared to share how they will implement their learning, either through their own personal wellness practice or some form of classroom lesson or activity
- Complete Google Form 1 prior to the first meeting
- Complete Google Form 2 prior to the second meeting
