Introduction to the Makovecz Student Scholarship Program
The Makovecz Student Scholarship Program is a scholarship program aimed at increasing Hungarian-Hungarian student mobility. The program is designed for Hungarian students studying at designated higher education institutions beyond the borders of Hungary, as well as for students from Hungary interested in pursuing studies abroad.
Program Details
The program provides special support for students to participate in exchange programs at partner institutions. The support includes coverage of costs such as travel, accommodation, health insurance, and tuition fees. The annual support framework is HUF 179,000,000.
Eligible Institutions
The designated higher education institutions participating in the program are:
- In Transylvania and Partium:
- Sapientia Transylvanian Hungarian University
- Partium Christian University
- Babes-Bolyai University
- Cluj Institute of Protestant Theology
- In Highlands:
- János Selye University
- Constantine University of Philosophy in Nitra
- Faculty of Central European Studies
- In Transcarpathia:
- II. Ferenc Rákóczi Transcarpathian Hungarian School
- In Vojvodina:
- University of Újvidék, primarily its Szabadkai Hungarian Language Teaching Faculty
- Technical Vocational School in Subotica
Program Structure
The program allows students to participate in partial studies at partner institutions for a duration of:
- 5 months (full-time semester)
- 1-4 months (partial studies)
- 1-3 weeks (short-term studies)
Student Selection
The host institution selects the students to be sent and received based on the cooperation agreement between the host institution and the partner institutions. The agreement covers partial studies and credit recognition.
Mobility Period
The student mobility period is from September 1, 2021, to August 31, 2022. The national mobility quota for the 2021/2022 academic year is 1125 partial study months.
Funding
The program covers the costs of both outgoing and incoming students, including travel, accommodation, health insurance, and tuition fees. The annual budget for the program is HUF 179,000,000.
