Introduction to the Gyerekegyetem 2025 Program

The Gyerekegyetem 2025 program is a five-day event designed for children aged 8-14 (2nd-8th grade) at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Hungary's leading institution of higher education in technology and economics. This program offers participants a glimpse into university life, featuring special lectures in large auditoriums and smaller group experiments where they can discover new phenomena.

Program Structure

The program's structure mimics that of real university students. It includes large lectures where over 150 children can attend, and smaller group practical sessions (seminars) with 20-23 children, led by an instructor, where they can explore, experiment, observe, and create in a friendly atmosphere. Games and leisure activities are organized between lectures.

Fees

The five-day program costs 68,000 forints per child in 2025, covering supervision, snacks, hot meals, and afternoon snacks for all five days. It also includes all necessary materials, handouts, and gifts, as well as free participation in additional Gyerekegyetem Plus events until the end of 8th grade.

Meals

In addition to the standard menu, a special menu is available to cater to common dietary needs:

• Sugar-free The choice of special menu must be indicated on the application form.

Daily Schedule

Gathering starts at 7:30 AM, and the program begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM. Parents can accompany their children to the venue but cannot attend lectures. University students and doctoral students are responsible for supervising and moving the children between locations. Childcare is provided until 4:30 PM.

Expectations

There are no exams, tests, or assessments at the Gyerekegyetem. The only expectation is that the child is curious about university life and open to discovering surprising and magical things.

Certificate

At the end of the program, participants receive a "university certificate," which, while not the same as those received by real university students, is something they can be proud of, given the limited number of participants.

Owl Diploma

To maintain children's interest in science over the long term, they can collect points for participating in events until the end of 8th grade and receive a Silver or Gold Owl Diploma.
