Program Description

The program is led by Dr. Szántai Tamás, a university professor with extensive experience in operations research. Dr. Szántai Tamás received his diploma in mathematics from ELTE in 1969 and later earned his university doctorate in 1970. He obtained his candidate degree in 1985, which led to his PhD in 1995, and eventually received his MTA doctorate in 2005.

Dr. Szántai Tamás's research interests include stochastic programming models, solution methods, and their computer implementations. He has participated in various operations research projects, focusing on hydrological applications, road network maintenance, and reliability of network systems.

Academic Background

Dr. Szántai Tamás has worked at various institutions, including the BME Villamosmérnöki and Gépészmérnöki Kar, as well as the MTA SZTAKI research institute. He has also taught at the ELTE Operációkutatási Tanszék, where he served as the department head for four years. Since 1992, he has been a faculty member at the BME, initially as the head of the Gépészmérnöki Kar Matematika Tanszék, and later as a university docent at the Differenciál­egyenletek Tanszék.

Career

Dr. Szántai Tamás has been a university professor since 2005. His early work focused on probability calculations and mathematical statistics, but he later shifted his attention to stochastic programming. He has led the BME TTK Differenciál­egyenletek Tanszék from 1998 to 2011.
