Introduction to the B.E.S.T.I.E. Group Program

The B.E.S.T.I.E. (Body Empowerment and Satisfaction Through Intuitive Eating) program is a research-based approach to improving health through the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating. This 6-week program provides tools to help individuals ditch food rules, honor natural body cues, and foster deeper body wisdom for better mental, physical, and emotional well-being.


Program Details

  • The program is designed for individuals who struggle with body image, weight concerns, or an unhealthy relationship with food.
  • It is open to current university students and non-student members and community participants who are 18 years old or older.
  • The program is held at the R. Brad Martin Student Wellness Center (SWC), Room 120.
  • The cost is free for university students, $36 ($6 per session) for non-student members, and $48 ($8 per session) for non-members.

What is Intuitive Eating?

Intuitive Eating is an evidence-based, self-care eating framework with over 200 research studies to date. It was founded by dietitians Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch in 1995 and has been a revolutionary approach to helping individuals reject diet culture norms and reclaim body trust while developing a healthier relationship with food.


Is this a weight loss program?

No, the B.E.S.T.I.E. group program focuses on helping individuals use the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating to feel empowered through body acceptance, improved well-being, and health-promoting behaviors. This program also endorses the principles of Health At Every Size.


Do I need to attend the whole program?

To get the most out of the workshop, participants are encouraged to attend the entire 6-week group program and stay for the duration of each session. However, accommodations can be made for participants who are unable to attend all sessions.


Is there a virtual option?

The program is currently only offered in-person.


What payment options are available?

Full online payments with a debit or credit card are accepted. No refunds will be provided after the start of the program.


Do I have to bring a "bestie"?
