Program Overview
Accelerated B.A to M.A. Program (ABM)
The Accelerated B.A./M.A. program allows an undergraduate student to complete their B.A. degree while beginning the coursework toward their M.A. in Spanish. This program enables students to earn up to 12 hours of graduate coursework that can be applied to both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Program Description
The ABM program is designed for undergraduate students who wish to pursue a Master's degree in Spanish. The program allows students to take graduate courses while still completing their undergraduate degree, providing a head start on their graduate studies.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the ABM program, students must:
- Be an undergraduate student with a minimum 3.25 overall grade point average
- Be a World Languages major with a concentration in Spanish or French
Application Procedure
The application procedure for the ABM program involves the following steps:
- Apply to the program in the semester preceding the one during which you would like to take the graduate courses
- Submit a letter of intent to the chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures (WLL)
- Have two reference letters submitted by WLL faculty members
- Interview with the appropriate graduate coordinator
- Apply to the Graduate School for the ABM program in order to take graduate courses
Continuing in the Program
To continue in the program past the B.A., students must apply for full admission into the Graduate School and into the M.A. in Romance Languages program.
