Introduction to the LiFE Program

The University of Memphis has collaborated with FedEx to provide eligible employees with the benefit of higher education through the LiFE program: Learning inspired by FedEx. This unique opportunity allows students of all education levels to earn a degree.

The LiFE Journey

The LiFE Journey takes students from enrollment to graduation, with each student's journey being tailored to their prior knowledge, work experience, education experience, and other factors. A LiFE Coach will help map the best route for each student.

Students who are unsure of their eligibility should contact their supervisor or a UofM Global Student Advocate to confirm.

LiFE Prep Academy

The LiFE Prep Academy is the first step for those without a high school diploma or college entrance exam. It is also the ideal starting point for anyone who started college but will still benefit from lower division credits, or as a refresher for those who haven't taken a class in a while or are unsure about online classes. Upon successful completion of the LiFE Prep Academy, students will continue their LiFE journey as University of Memphis students and automatically earn 12 college credit hours.

Experience Evaluation

A LiFE Coach will work with students to complete an experience evaluation and help them find the shortest path to completion. The University of Memphis offers Experiential Learning Credit, which allows students to petition for college credit for knowledge, training, and skills gained from previous work and life experience. This can include military service, FedEx-provided training, professional development courses, volunteer work, or other unique life experiences. The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) also provides an opportunity for students to take a test to earn course credit for specific classes.

Enrolling as a University of Memphis Student

Once students have successfully passed the Prep Academy and/or worked with their LiFE Coach to be admitted as a UofM student, they will begin taking classes to earn their degree. Students may select any major offered fully online by UofM Global. For those unsure of what major to choose, UofM Global offers a degree program in Organizational Leadership that is a great fit for FedEx employees and provides a Bachelor of Professional Studies.

Becoming a College Graduate

Upon successful completion of the degree program, students will officially be graduates of the University of Memphis. This achievement can have a lasting impact on their lives and the lives of their families, as it demonstrates the value of hard work and education.
