Program Overview

University Program: Master of European Studies

The Master of European Studies is a one-year diploma study (2 semesters) that carries 60 ECTS credits. Upon completion, students earn the title of University Master or University Mistress of European Studies. The study program is conducted entirely in English. It enables students to acquire the skills to solve a wide range of problems within the interdisciplinary field of European studies and teaches students how to develop and apply acquired knowledge and ideas in the areas of European law, politics, and economy.

Admission Criteria

Students who have completed a university undergraduate study in social or humanities sciences with a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, graduates of four-year university undergraduate studies in social or humanities sciences in the Republic of Croatia, and graduates of four-year university undergraduate studies in social or humanities sciences abroad, whose diploma is recognized in the Republic of Croatia, can enroll in the Master of European Studies program.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee is 1,000.00 euros per semester (a total of 2,000.00 euros), with the possibility of payment in four installments.

Study Program

The study program includes the following compulsory courses:

• Constitutional Law of the European Union
• Economics of European Integration
• Politics and Political System of the EU
• Master's Thesis

And the following elective courses:

• Democracy and Economic Development
• Development Policy
• Health Policy and Systems
• EU Internal Market Law
• European Political Thought: Liberalism and Nationalism
• EU socio-economic governance and the green transition

Completion of Studies

To complete their studies, students must submit the following documents to the student office after their mentor confirms the defense of their thesis:

1. Student ID card (in case of a lost student ID card, a form for the loss of the student ID card must be filled out in the office)
2. Confirmation from the faculty library that all books have been returned (regardless of whether books were borrowed)
3. Confirmation of paid promotion costs:
   • Amount: 57.50 euros
   • Payment description: costs of promotion SDSN/SDSP/SDSNS/MES (depending on the completed study)
   • Recipient: Faculty of Political Science, University of Zagreb, Ivana Lepuia 6, 10000 Zagreb
4. The final version of the thesis in PDF/A format must be uploaded on the day of the defense.
