The Geology of Fossil Fuels program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of coal and hydrocarbon geology. The program covers topics such as coal formation, classification, and reserves, as well as the formation, migration, and accumulation of oil and gas.

Description

The program explores the geology of fossil fuels, including coal and hydrocarbons. Topics covered include:

• Coal as an energy source and raw material
• Reserves and production of coal worldwide and in Croatia
• Organic and inorganic constituents of plant tissue
• Classification of coal according to practical value and carbonisation level
• Coal-bearing formations and depositional environments
• Theories of autochthonous and allochthonous formation of coal beds
• Types of hydrocarbons
• Formation, migration, and accumulation of oil and gas
• Source rocks and reservoir rocks
• Geological operations in petroleum geological exploration
• Oil and gas reservoirs in Croatia and worldwide
