Introduction to the RWTH Aachen University 4+2 Joint Cultivation Program
The RWTH Aachen University 4+2 joint cultivation program is a collaborative effort between RWTH Aachen University and domestic universities in China. This program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in their chosen field, combining the strengths of both institutions.

RWTH Aachen University, located in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, is a renowned institution with a rich history dating back to 1870. As a member of the "German Excellence Universities" alliance, the IDEA League, and the TU9 consortium of leading German universities of technology, RWTH Aachen University is committed to academic excellence and innovative research. The university comprises nine faculties, offering over 100 programs to its 47,000 students and employing 13,000 staff members.
Program Introduction
Program Format and Content
The 4+2 joint cultivation program is designed for students to complete their undergraduate studies in China while taking online courses from RWTH Aachen University. Upon completing their undergraduate degree, students can directly pursue their master's degree at RWTH Aachen University.
- The program consists of two parts: four years of undergraduate study in China and two years of master's study at RWTH Aachen University.
- Students will complete five important foundation courses from RWTH Aachen University during their undergraduate studies.
- These courses will be taught in English, using the Moodle learning platform.
Course Details
The five foundation courses are:
- Higher Mathematics III (7 credits)
- Mechanical Design II (5.5 credits)
- Engineering Mechanics III (8 credits)
- Engineering Mechanics II (7 credits)
- Robotics and Mechanism Design (6 credits) Additionally, students can choose from other courses, including:
- Control Systems Basics (5 credits)
- Structural Safety and General Design Concepts (6 credits)
- Structural Analysis Basics (5 credits)
- Building Information Modeling (4 credits)
Selection Criteria and Requirements
- Eligible students: The program is open to students from domestic universities in China, particularly those with a background in engineering or related fields.
- Selection requirements:
- Language proficiency: TOEFL 90 or IELTS 6.0
- GRE requirements: VR 145, QR 160, AW 3 (exempt for students who complete the five foundation courses)
- Physical and mental health
- Good academic standing and conduct
Program Fees
- RWTH Aachen University tuition fees: 9,500 for the online courses during undergraduate studies and 24,000 for the two-year master's program
- Pre-training fees: Ą38,000 (including APS team audit and visa application services, language proficiency enhancement, and other support services)
