University of Cumbria Art Academy 3+1 Bachelor's Double Degree Program

Introduction

The University of Cumbria Art Academy is one of the oldest art academies in the UK, with a history dating back to 1822. It has been a pioneer in British art education, nurturing numerous renowned artists, including Turner Prize winner Keith Tyson, landscape painter Sheila Fell, and feminist artist Margaret Harrison.

Integration with art festivals: The academy participates in various art festivals, including the Lakes International Comic Art Festival, the "Young" Cumbrian Annual Art Exhibition, and the Brian Griffin International Touring Exhibition, with nearly 50 exhibitions held annually at the Vallum Gallery.

Collaboration with enterprises: Two-thirds of the courses focus on artistic practice and development, with students participating in over 100 artistic enterprise cooperation activities annually, including projects with Michael Fassbender and the filming of "Macbeth" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Program Type

The program is a 3+1 bachelor's double degree program, where students complete three years of coursework at their home university and one year at the University of Cumbria, earning dual bachelor's degrees upon graduation.


Application Requirements

  • Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students in their third year, majoring in art-related fields.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have no record of violating laws or regulations, and demonstrate good comprehensive quality and excellent academic performance (GPA 3.0).
  • Applicants must pass the qualification review by the university's international cooperation office and the academic review by the University of Cumbria.

Language Requirements

Applicants must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above.
