Introduction to the Nursing Major
The goal of the undergraduate program in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is to prepare professional nurses who have the ability to think critically, to utilize knowledge of relevant theories, and to apply the nursing process when caring for clients of all ages in a variety of settings.

Upon successful completion of the program in Nursing, graduates are prepared as a generalist for beginning professional nursing roles. The clinical aspects of the Nursing program are developed, coordinated, and supervised by the nursing faculty and are provided in collaboration with members of the community agencies.

The Solomont School of Nursing offers state-of-the-art simulation laboratories with observation rooms, a demonstration hospital wing, and true-to-life exam rooms. Futuristic-looking classroom chairs move on wheels for discussion groups, and every lecture room has access to "smart" technology for presentations.

The Nursing program is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing and is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
