M.Des. Master of Design
The two-year program in Design provides opportunities to develop design sensibilities by working hands-on for designing varied products across a wider spectrum of domains ranging from Toy design, Consumer products, crafted artefacts, smart products, Healthcare Products, Furniture, Mobility, and other evolving domains.
Programme Overview
The students learn the current methods and execute best practices to design sustainable products inclusive by nature and sensitized towards the aspects of circular economy. Students are trained in digital products such as User Experience Design (UxD) and Interaction Design as these are emerging career paths to pursue further. The students can specialize in the areas such as Sustainable Product Design, Product Semantics, Ergonomics, Space Design, Mobility Design, and Artificial Intelligence.

Admission Guidelines
Admission Process
- For candidates applying through non CEED channel, it is mandatory to write VITMEE (M.Des.2026). The applicants should register for VITMEE, a Computer Based Objective test at indicated test centres.
- Selection will be based on the score obtained either in VIT Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE) Test (OR) Common Entrance Exam for design (CEED - 2026/2025/2024).
- Candidates with valid CEED score are NOT REQUIRED to appear for VITMEE (M.Des.2026) and also candidates with valid CEED score (2026/2025/2024) will be given priority during admission.
- Candidates with valid CEED scores need to upload their score card during the application process.
- The applicants should apply online in the respective link provided in the website (by paying a non-refundable application fee of Rs.1200/- (rupees thousand two hundred only).
- The list of short-listed candidates will be published in the website and personal SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number for online counselling.
- Selected candidates will have to pay an advance payment of Rs. 1 lakh.
- Candidates who fail to pay the advance before deadline, will not be considered for admission.
Eligibility
- It is mandatory to write VITMEE (M.Des.2026) and the selection is based on the score obtained either in VIT Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE) Test (OR) Common Entrance Exam for design (CEED) 2026
- A full-time degree (10+2+3 or 4 or 5 years) from any recognized University/Institute in any Engineering, Science, Applied Arts, Architecture or Design degree with a minimum aggregate of 60% or first class alone are eligible to apply.
- Candidates appearing for their final degree exam / final semester exam in the current year are also eligible to apply.
- A minimum of 60% aggregate in 10th and 12th std.
- Applicants from Open University / Correspondence mode are ineligible to apply.
- The applicant for admission should be a Resident Indian National and should have graduated from institutions located in India.
- Foreign and NRI / PIO candidates must apply separately.
