Program Overview

The Ph.D. program in African and African Diaspora Studies is designed to provide advanced training in the critical examination of the cultures, societies, and political economies of people of African origin and descent.


Program Objectives

The program prepares students for careers in academia, research, policy, and community development, as well as for leadership roles in a variety of fields. Students in the Ph.D. program develop a deep understanding of the historical and contemporary experiences of African and African diasporic communities, and learn to analyze and address the complex social, economic, and political issues that affect these communities.


Program Requirements
