Program Overview

The coordinated degree program allows students to concurrently pursue the MS degree in Anthropology and the MLIS degree. Candidates for this program will be expected to fulfill the degree requirements of both programs, and degrees will be awarded simultaneously.

Degree Requirements

Students enrolled in this program must complete the requirements for both the MS degree in Anthropology and the MLIS degree. The MS degree in Anthropology requires a minimum of 30 credits, with some credits obtained by taking required courses. The MLIS degree requires 30 credits in SOIS.

The Master's degree program in Anthropology requires a minimum of 30 credits, including:

  • ANTHRO 801A: Survey of Physical Anthropology (3 credits)
  • ANTHRO 802: Perspectives on Prehistory (3 credits)
  • ANTHRO 803: Survey of Cultural Anthropology (3 credits)
• Methods courses:
  • ANTHRO 568: Introduction to Anthropological Statistics (3 credits)
  • Select one of the following:
    • ANTHRO 380: Anthropological Applications of GIS
    • ANTHRO 501: Archaeology of Death
    • ANTHRO 525: Zooarchaeology: Analysis of Faunal Remains
    • ANTHRO 535: Analysis of Archaeological Ceramics
    • ANTHRO 562: Techniques and Problems in Archaeology
    • ANTHRO 566: Archaeological Analysis and Report Preparation
    • ANTHRO 567: Archaeological Field School
    • ANTHRO 768: Topics in Advanced Research Design in Anthropology
  • Or an alternative approved by the advisor and the Director of Graduate Studies
