The 2018 AMEE & Belt and Road Initiative Summer School Program was held at the China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) from June 14 to July 8, 2018. The program aimed to provide a platform for Chinese and foreign students to engage in mutual communication, understanding, and learning.

- It was attended by 39 international students from 13 universities in 12 countries, including:

- Saint-Petersburg Mining University (Russia)
- Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria)
- AGH University of Science and Technology (Poland)
- University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski" (Bulgaria)
- TU Bergakademie Freiberg (Germany)
- Lulea University of Technology (Sweden)
- The University of Wollongong (Australia)
- German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (Mongolia)
- Hanoi University of Mining and Geology (Vietnam)
- Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Yogyakarta (Indonesia)
- Lambung Mangkurat University (Indonesia)
- Wits University (South Africa)
- 90 CUMT students from Sun Yueqi Honors College also participated in the program.
- The program included various course studies and activities, such as:

- Selected courses in both engineering and humanity areas
- Introduction of foreign teachers
