Introduction to the 2025 Overseas Elite Program on Governance

The School of Global Leadership at Renmin University of China (RUC) has launched the 2025 Overseas Elite Program on Governance. This program is designed for political cadre members from Southern African countries, with the inaugural cohort consisting of 32 participants from six ruling parties.

Program Overview

The program aims to cultivate global leadership by providing deep insight into the fundamental questions of the times and proactive efforts to respond to them. The program embodies Chinese wisdom, solutions, and strength in addressing global challenges, offering new ideas, connotations, and pathways for shaping global leadership in the new era.

Program Structure

• The program includes systematic learning and field research in six representative Chinese cities:
  • Beijing
  • Yueyang
  • Jinggangshan
  • Fuzhou
  • Yiwu
  • Suzhou
• Students will gain a deeper understanding of the achievements and practices of Chinese modernization.

Program Objectives

The program encourages students to:

• Strengthen critical thinking while contributing to shared development
• Refine decision-making skills while safeguarding common security
• Embrace inclusiveness while promoting mutual understanding among civilizations
• Foster innovation while participating in global governance

Program Participants

The inaugural cohort consists of 32 political cadre members from six ruling parties of Southern African countries. These participants are key political figures from their respective countries, serving in leading positions within governing parties and government institutions, and are regarded as core members of their nations' future leadership.

The program is supported by Renmin University of China, with the School of Global Leadership dedicated to advancing human progress and global development. The university hopes that China and Africa will continue to deepen cooperation on their respective modernization paths, jointly advancing the building of a community with a shared future for humanity toward a peaceful, secure, prosperous, and progressive world.
