Introduction

The Master of Science (Sustainable Urban Design) is a unique, industrial-focused master-by-coursework program in Malaysia that addresses current local and global sustainable issues in the built environment. This interdisciplinary program combines the fields of architecture, urban planning, environmental planning, landscape architecture, and environmental engineering. The program collaborates with allied professionals and local and international university partners to assimilate diverse areas of sustainable development and urban design. An overseas study trip is a compulsory component, exposing students to global concerns of sustainable development.


The Master of Science (Sustainable Urban Design) offers evening classes in both full-time and part-time modes, providing philosophical, technical, and scientific knowledge required for innovative sustainable urban design. The teaching staff includes in-house experts in urban design, as well as experts and professionals from related disciplines and industries, who bring real-world issues into the classroom. The program's multi-disciplinary nature attracts prospective students from various related disciplines. It is offered at the Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, UTM Kuala Lumpur, strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city centre.


Program Objectives

  • Evaluate projects considering users' needs and appreciating urban design issues from global and cultural perspectives to implement professional, ethical, environmental, and social responsibilities.
