1-Day Short Course on Partial Discharge Measurement Techniques

Course Outline

In this course, participants will be introduced to partial discharge measurement techniques in various high voltage equipment, including power cables, transformers and switchgears, and rotating machines. The course will cover types of partial discharge and classification methods in partial discharge measurement, as well as an in-depth discussion on IEC 60270:2015 horizontal standard of partial discharge. Further, various methods of data analysis and options for further investigation to locate and pinpoint partial discharge sources will also be covered.

Speaker

  • Dr. Mohd Hafizi Ahmad received his B. Eng and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia in 2009 and 2013, respectively. He is a senior lecturer at the Institute of High Voltage & High Current (IVAT), School of Electrical Engineering, UTM, with research interests covering different types of high voltage insulations, nanodielectrics, insulation performance, and breakdown of dielectric materials.
