  • Broadcast Center: Staffed by students, our state-of-the-art facilities support student organizations and classes that use the space for filming needs.
  • Community News Lab: The Community News Lab pairs student reporters with media partners to bring objective reporting to news desert communities in Rhode Island.
  • Media Equipment Center: The MEC is your one-stop center for technology access and training with sound, video, photography, lighting equipment, and more.
  • Social Media Research Lab: Through partnerships with industry professionals, the lab allows students to hone their skills and build a work portfolio.
  • Sports Broadcasting: Students have the chance to crew and cast at-home sports games for the Rams on ESPN+ with the direction of professionals.
  • Social Media Agency: The agency fosters a collaborative environment where interns work across all major platforms and learn all aspects of social media.

University Organizations

Students have many opportunities across campus to get involved, including:


  • The Good 5 Cent Cigar: URI's award-winning, student-run news organization publishes a weekly newspaper, daily online news updates, and broadcasts.
  • WRIU: An independent, non-commercial station that reaches the Southern New England area at 90.3 FM, along with streaming station RIU2.
  • Student Entertainment Committee: Help plan major concerts and special events that attract thousands of people to campus every year.
  • Public Relations Student Society of America: Develop skills in public relations as a member of this national organization.
  • Anchor Sports Network: URI's sports media network, where students cover athletics with news coverage and podcasts.
