Program Overview
EMT Paramedic Program
The EMT Paramedic program is designed to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients. Paramedics possess complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, functioning as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight.
Program Overview
The EMT Paramedic certificate program consists of 16 courses for a total of 41 semester credit hours over three semesters (approximately 12 months). The program typically begins in the summer term and graduates the following May. Students are considered full-time enrolled students for each semester, with classes conducted during weekdays only.
Admissions Requirements
- Completion of the Texas Common Application
- Criminal background check
- Some clinical sites may require students to pass a drug screen or require additional immunizations
- First-time College Students: submit documentation of high school diploma or GED
- Official transcripts from each college and university currently or previously attended
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Documentation of EMT certification for Paramedic Program enrollment
- International Applicants: submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo English Test
Degree Requirements
The EMT Paramedic Certificate program consists of 16 courses for a total of 41 semester credit hours. The EMT Paramedic course completion certificate is awarded upon satisfactory completion of all courses in the program with a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
