Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences
The Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences is part of the Division of Medical Laboratory Sciences. This program teaches students to use cutting-edge technologies and techniques as laboratory professionals who analyze blood and body fluids to help identify, treat, and prevent hundreds of diseases and conditions — from thyroid problems to diabetes, from leukemia to hepatitis.
Program Overview
The results of laboratory professionals' work touch countless lives. The work that laboratory professionals do affects up to 70 percent of all major patient-care-related decisions. Our graduates are critical to saving and enhancing lives and contributing to research and clinical breakthroughs.
Certification
Graduates of our program will be able to sit for the certification examination for medical laboratory scientists administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (BOC).
Requirements
- Complete Texas Common Core Curriculum
- Overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- No prior health care experience required
