Certificate in Medical Physics Program

The Certificate in Medical Physics Program requires the satisfactory completion of required coursework, totaling 18 semester credit hours (SCH) of didactic coursework.

Required Courses

Students in the Certificate in Medical Physics Program must successfully complete the following didactic courses:

• RADI 5005 (3 SCH): Fundamentals of Radiation Dosimetry
• RADI 5020 (3 SCH): Principles of Health Physics
• RADI 5015 (3 SCH): Physics of Diagnostic Imaging
• RADI 5025 (3 SCH): Molecular Oncology & Radiobiology
• RADI 6024 (3 SCH): Radiological Anatomy & Physiology
• RADI 6030 (3 SCH): Physics of Radiotherapy

Transfer of Coursework for Credit

Students admitted to the certificate program may be granted credit for up to two previously completed courses taken outside a CAMPEP-accredited graduate or certificate program, provided they have been reviewed and approved by the Certificate Program Director and the registrar's office. A written request for consideration of the transfer of course credit must be submitted to the Program Director, including a comprehensive description of the prior course and an official transcript.

Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)

Four program Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) have been established to identify and develop direct measures of student assessment and ensure student success. Students will be able to:

• Explain the importance of patient safety in the clinical practice of medical physics
• Demonstrate proficiency in physics, mathematics, and other physical sciences required for a career in medical physics
• Critically evaluate scientific literature in the field of medical physics
• Apply professional standards in medical physics practice
