Paramedic Program Overview
The paramedic program consists of 16 courses for a total of 41 credit hours over two semesters. Classroom instruction covers anatomy/physiology, patient assessment, advanced airway procedures, cardiovascular emergencies, medical and trauma emergencies, EMS operations, hospital clinical and EMS field practicum.
Program Accreditation
The paramedic certificate program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP).
Institutional Accreditation
The University of Texas at San Antonio is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees. The University of Texas at San Antonio also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. The University of Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center is an approved, off-campus instructional site where 50% or more of academic programs are offered, and it is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as well. The Health Science Center is part of the academic health center of The University of Texas at San Antonio, which includes schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, health professions, graduate biomedical sciences, and public health, along with a clinical enterprise.
