Program Overview

Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Science in Emergency Health Sciences (EHS) is offered by the Department of Emergency Health Sciences. This degree is only available as an online program. Paramedics who have earned a paramedic certificate may choose to continue their education to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in EHS. The baccalaureate degree offers additional opportunities in the field of out-of-hospital emergency health care in administration, teaching, or advanced-level practice.

Coursework

The program's second portion of the degree is from the core curriculum and is made up of 42 semester-hour credits. These general education courses are not offered at the UT Health San Antonio and must be transferred from a college or university. The final 52 semester hour credits are offered through the online bachelor of science program. The program is designed to meet a student's educational and career goals. Therefore, in consultation with the program director, the student may create an individualized curriculum of at least 52 semester credit hours from the bachelor of science courses.

Institutional Accreditation

The University of Texas at San Antonio is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral degrees. The University of Texas at San Antonio also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
