Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care (Online)
The Online Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care program is designed for individuals who hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Please note that this program is not available to residents in some states.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission, applicants must:
- Complete 60 or more semester credit hours from an accredited educational institution.
- Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Complete the Texas Core Curriculum.

- Allied Health Centralized Application Service (AHCAS) online application
- AHCAS fee
- Supplemental application
Required Semester Hours
The following courses are required:
- English Composition I (3 hours) - ENGL 1301
- English Composition II (3 hours) - ENGL 1302
- College Algebra or higher (3 hours) - MATH 1314
- History I (3 hours) - HIST 1301
- History II (3 hours) - HIST 1302
- Government I (3 hours) - GOVT 2305
- Government II (3 hours) - GOVT 2306
- Philosophy, Humanities, or Literature course (3 hours)
- Art, Drama, Dance, or Music (3 hours)
- Psychology or Sociology (3 hours)
- Natural Sciences (12 hours)
Coursework Notes
Some program course requirements may meet Texas Common Core requirements. It is recommended to check course equivalencies for Texas institutions using the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS).
Transcripts
Applicants who are enrolled in college courses at the time of application should submit an official transcript showing courses in progress. An updated transcript must be submitted upon completion of the courses. Transcripts from institutions outside the United States must be submitted in the original language and accompanied by a NACES Members evaluation agency English translation for each course.
International Applicants
International applicants must submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores. This requirement may be waived if the applicant is a graduate from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution in the USA.
