Master of Science in Imaging Sciences
Program Overview
Master of Science in Imaging Sciences
The Master of Science in Imaging Sciences program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in imaging sciences.
Clinical Experience
Clinical courses offered to MSIS students are the most important and meaningful activities in which the students are engaged. During this time, the students will be rotated through different diagnostic areas to transfer knowledge from theory to application of skills in performing diagnostic radiographic procedures, computed tomography procedures, and magnetic resonance imaging procedures.
The student's clinical experience will be different from the academic environment in which he/she is accustomed. The success of the student in functioning and learning in the clinical setting depends, in part, on how he/she approaches and deals with the differences.
While most of the clinical assignments are within San Antonio, students will be assigned to clinical areas within a 90-mile radius of the San Antonio service area.
Clinical assignments run Monday through Sunday and involve both daytime and evening hours.
Program Overview
The program is part of the School of Health Professions at The University of Texas at San Antonio. The university's health science center includes schools of medicine, dentistry, nursing, health professions, graduate biomedical sciences, and public health, and a clinical enterprise called UT Health San Antonio, which conducts 2.5 million patient visits yearly.
