The Diploma of Applied Education is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with a solid foundation in academic knowledge and industry-specific skills. The program is structured to cater to the needs of students who aim to pursue further education or enter the workforce upon completion.
Program Structure
The program consists of:
- 3 compulsory subjects: Chinese Language, English Language, and Mathematics
- 2 elective subjects chosen from a range of combinations, including:
- Career Planning
- Digital Citizenship
- Extended Mathematics
- Interpersonal Communication and Personal Development
- 1 elective cluster (180 hours) selected from various options, such as:
- Sports Coaching
- Fashion Jewelry Design
- Interior Design
- Microfilm Production

Academic Qualifications
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the Diploma of Applied Education, which is equivalent to:
- Level 3 of the Qualifications Framework
- 5 subjects (including Chinese and English) at Level 2 in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examinations
- Students who complete the Extended Mathematics elective will have an additional qualification equivalent to Level 2 in Mathematics in the HKDSE examinations
Progression Pathways
Important Notice Regarding Articulation Pathways
As the Legislative Council has passed the "2025 Amendment Bill for Post-Secondary Colleges," the operation of the School for Continuing Education will undergo adjustments. Some articulation pathways available to graduates of this program may be subject to change. The School is committed to providing support to students during this transitional period and will offer relevant information as it becomes available.
Fees
- Application fee: HK$200
- Tuition fee for the 2026/27 academic year: HK$44,484
Financial Assistance
Eligible students may receive financial assistance, including:
- Government reimbursement of 30% of the tuition fee for each completed subject
- Full or half reimbursement of the tuition fee for students who pass the means test conducted by the Student Financial Assistance Agency
- Other forms of assistance, such as extended non-means-tested loan schemes, student travel subsidies, and internet fee subsidies
Additional Assistance
Selected graduates may be eligible for the "Sir Bahktiar Kassim Trust Fund" scholarship
Class Schedule and Venue
Classes will commence in September 2026 at the School for Continuing Education's teaching centers (Wan Chai/Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui)
Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have completed Form 6 or be at least 21 years old
- Be a Hong Kong resident
Application Procedure
First Stage Application
- Online application and payment of the application fee will commence on December 1, 2025
- Application deadline: July 13, 2026, at 4:00 pm
- Notification of admission results will be sent via email or SMS starting from July 14, 2026
Second Stage Application
- Online application for remaining vacancies will commence on July 14, 2026, at 9:00 am
DSE Results Release Arrangements
Online and on-site applications will be conducted simultaneously
