Master of Science (MSc) in Corporate Governance and Compliance

Programme Information

The Master of Science in Corporate Governance and Compliance programme provides specialised training and imparts practical knowledge to prepare directors, company secretaries, and professionals in related fields to strengthen sustainability and accountability of their organisations. This professionally recognised master degree can help graduates undertake senior roles in their organisations, from management to boardroom.

Aims

The programme aims to respond to an increasingly complex regulatory environment and ever-rising expectations of investors and stakeholders. Foundational courses will be provided to develop students' understanding of business operations and environment. Courses on different aspects of corporate governance will follow to offer students in-depth knowledge and relevant professional skills. Emerging themes, including risk management and compliance, will be emphasised to strengthen the professional role on a day-to-day basis as well as the leadership role at the governance level on a long-term basis.

Programme Structure

• Units Requirement: 30 units
  • Required Courses: 24 units
  • Elective Courses: 6 units

Admission Requirements

• Academic Qualification: A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university or comparable institution, or an equivalent qualification (such as a recognised professional qualification in accounting or finance).
• Language Proficiency Requirement: Applicants should possess evidence of good English proficiency. If English was not the medium of instruction for undergraduate studies:
  • A minimum TOEFL score of 79 (internet-based); or
  • IELTS (academic) overall band score of 6.5; or
  • An equivalent score on a comparable test.
  • Note: Test result provided should be within two years from the date of issuance of the Admission Offer letter. TOEFL iBT Home Edition or IELTS Indicator test is not accepted.
• Others: Applicants are preferably with three years of relevant work experience.

Tuition Fee

• Full-time: HK$270,000/programme
• Part-time: HK$255,000/programme

Selection Process

1. Screening of applications will be on a rolling basis.
2. Short-listed applicants may be interviewed should the Programme Board deem it necessary.
3. Application result will be reflected in the application status in the online application system.

Graduation and Professional Recognition

Graduates of the Programme are eligible to apply for full exemption from the examination requirements of The Chartered Governance Institute (CGI) and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI).

Eligibility

Applicants who are interested in corporate governance of commercial (listed and non-listed), public, charitable, and non-governmental organisations are welcome.
