Master of Chinese Medicine (MCM) Programme
Programme Information
The Master of Chinese Medicine (MCM) programme, offered by the School of Chinese Medicine at Hong Kong Baptist University, aims to cultivate and enhance students' competence in applying Chinese medicine theories and methods in clinical practice as well as in the research and development of Chinese medicine. Through this programme, students' abilities to comprehend and master the theoretical knowledge of Chinese medicine will be strengthened.
Aims
The programme has several key objectives:
- To enhance students' abilities in applying Chinese medicine theories in clinical practice and in the research and development of Chinese medicine.
- To strengthen students' understanding and mastery of Chinese medicine theoretical knowledge.
- To train a group of quality personnel in medical and healthcare services, as well as in research and technological development of Chinese medicine.
Programme Structure
- Units Requirement: 32 units
- Common Courses: 11 units
- Concentration Courses: 21 units

Concentrations
Students are required to choose a specialized area of studies, known as concentration courses, from one of the three available concentrations:
- Studies and Applications of Internal Chinese Medicine (ICM)
- Studies and Applications of Acupuncture (ACU)
- Studies and Applications of Orthopaedics, Traumatology and Tui Na (OT)
Upon completion of the programme, students from each concentration will have enhanced their abilities in medical diagnosis and treatment and are expected to apply their knowledge and techniques skillfully in clinical practice.
Admission Requirements
Academic Qualification
Applicants must meet one of the following academic qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in Chinese Medicine or Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine.
- Equivalent qualifications in Chinese medicine or Chinese pharmacy.
- Be registered Chinese medicine practitioners in Hong Kong who have passed the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination.
- Be registered Chinese medicine practitioners in Hong Kong with a provision of training certificate in Chinese medicine or relevant disciplines and have passed the admission assessment conducted by the School of Chinese Medicine, HKBU.
Applicants with qualifications listed in points 2, 3, or 4 may be required to pass an assessment conducted by the Programme Management Committee.
Language Proficiency Requirement
Applicants must meet one of the following language proficiency requirements:
- Obtained a bachelor's degree with Chinese language as the primary medium of instruction in the major courses.
- Obtained Grade E or above in Chinese Language and Culture in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination.
- Obtained Level 3 or above in Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE).
- Passed the Chinese language test arranged by the School of Chinese Medicine, HKBU.

Selection Process
- Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
