Program Overview

The Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy programs are offered by the School of Communication. These programs are available in full-time and part-time study modes.


Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for the programs are as follows:


  • UGC-funded:
    • AY2026/27: HK$47,000 (approximately US$6,000)
    • AY2027/28: HK$49,500 (approximately US$6,300)
    • AY2028/29: to be confirmed by the University Grants Committee
  • Full-time Self-funded: HK$94,000 per year
  • Part-time Self-funded: HK$47,000 per year Note: Self-funded students' tuition fees are subject to review.

Admission and Funding

The programs are available for admission in September 2026. The funding nature of the programs includes UG/RG-funded and self-funded options. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme is also available for full-time PhD study, which aims to attract the best and brightest students from around the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong.
