Program Overview

Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours)

The BBA (Hons) degree programme prepares students for careers as managers and business professionals. All students receive a foundation in business and general courses plus a specialisation in one area of business through the choice from one of the eight Concentrations:

  • Accounting Concentration
  • Economics and Data Analytics Concentration
  • Finance Concentration
  • Human Resources Management Concentration
  • Information Systems and Business Intelligence Concentration
  • Marketing Concentration
  • Strategic Retail Management and Innovation Concentration
  • Wealth and Asset Management Concentration

Programme Structure

BBA students are required to take Required Courses (46 units, including a BBA Project) and Concentration Courses (21 units) that include the basics of business such as accounting, economics, management theory, quantitative and computer techniques, language and communication skills, and behavioural sciences. This is the largest component of the curriculum.

University Requirements

BBA students at HKBU must also complete University Language courses (9 units) and General Education courses (22 units). These give students an exposure to other fields such as English, Chinese, Healthy Lifestyle, Culture and Civilization, Quantitative Reasoning, and Values and the Meaning of Life. Students can make use of the elective courses to pursue the additional graduation options of a minor in non-business discipline or double concentration within BBA.

Double Degree Programmes in Business

The university offers double degree programmes with NEOMA Business School and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). These programmes allow students to earn two degrees by spending time in both institutions.

Transdisciplinary Second Majors / Second Majors

The University offers transdisciplinary second majors (TSMs) and second majors (SMs) that allow students to gain knowledge from multiple disciplines. TSMs prepare students to pool knowledge from disciplines to excel in multiple careers, while SMs prepare students to gain in-depth knowledge from another discipline to complement the first major.

Experiential Learning Activities Requirement

BBA students are required to complete one of the following Experiential Learning activities before graduation:

  • Internship (local/overseas)
  • Exchange Programme (regular semester/summer)
  • Service Learning Projects

Self-eLearning
