Program Overview
Introduction to the Diploma in Arts
The Diploma in Arts (DipArts) is a one-year program designed for students who wish to study Arts subjects at university without committing to a full three-year bachelor's degree. This diploma allows students to explore a wide range of Arts courses and can also serve as a pathway to the Bachelor of Arts.
What Will My Study Involve?
- Choose from a diverse array of Arts subjects and courses at any level.
- Complete a compulsory course on foundational arts skills, such as academic writing, analyzing evidence, or bicultural identity.
- The diploma can be studied full-time in 1 year or part-time for up to 6 years.
- It can be used as a pathway to the Bachelor of Arts, with the ability to transfer completed courses to that degree.
Entry Requirements
To enroll in the Diploma, students will need:
- University Entrance (or equivalent). The university offers transition programs for those who need help meeting these requirements.
- If English is not the student's first language, they must also meet the university's Undergraduate language requirements. English language evidence must be provided to the university. For those needing assistance in meeting these requirements or wishing to improve their English skills before studying, the university offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) language programs.
Degree Structure
The DipArts is made up of 120 points, including subjects and compulsory course options from the Bachelor of Arts. It can be completed within 1 year full-time or up to 6 years part-time. Students can choose to transfer the credits gained during the Diploma in Arts to the Bachelor of Arts (and some other degrees), provided they have not already graduated with the Diploma.
