Master of Financial Engineering
The Master of Financial Engineering (MFEng) is a postgraduate degree that equips students with industry-level skills and knowledge in financial engineering. This cross-disciplinary field combines financial and economic theory with mathematical and computational tools to design and develop financial products, portfolios, markets, and regulations.
Introduction
Financial engineering is a field that manages financial risk, identifies market opportunities, designs and values financial or actuarial products, and optimizes investment strategies. The MFEng program is designed for students with a good background in mathematics and statistics, providing them with technical skills and knowledge to perform at a high level in the financial industry.
Entry Requirements
To enroll in the Master of Financial Engineering, students should have:
- A bachelor's degree with a B+ Grade Point Average in 300-level courses
- Completed specified 200-level MATH and STAT courses (or equivalent courses)
- Been approved to enroll If English is not the student's first language, they must also meet the University's postgraduate language requirements.
Degree Structure
The MFEng program consists of 180 points, made up of coursework and an applied research project. The program is taught over two semesters, followed by project work, and can be completed in 1 year full-time or up to 3 years part-time.
