Program Overview


Master of Business Administration

The University of Canterbury's Hybrid Master of Business Administration (UC MBA) is a flexible and future-focused programme that fits around your busy schedule. Classes can be accessed either in-person or virtually, with key in-person touchpoints, so you gain the benefit of collaborating and developing connections in the classroom.


Introduction

The programme has strong business collaborations and industry co-teaching, making it the most industry-engaged MBA in New Zealand. With real-world case studies and projects, you gain real-world insights that you can apply directly to your work environment. The UC MBA is accredited by AMBA, the global standard for MBAs.


Entry Requirements

Students must be approved by the Dean of Business, who will take account of the relevance and standard of previous studies and experience. Any bachelor's degree, or the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration, must have been completed with good grades, and at least five years' work experience at an appropriate level is required. If English is not your first language, you are also required to meet UC's Postgraduate language requirements.


Degree Structure

The structure of the Master of Business Administration programme is closely prescribed, and consists of compulsory courses, electives, and a consulting project. The degree may be completed in a minimum of 18 months full-time study, or part-time in up to 5 years (domestic students only). You can begin studies in February, May, or August.

The MBA Schedule incorporates 125 points of compulsory courses, 10 points of elective courses, and a consulting project of 45 points. Compulsory courses include:
