Introduction to Accounting
Accounting is a field of study that assesses and reports on the performance of organisations, informing decisions about pricing, costs, systems, and processes. At the University of Canterbury, students learn about accounting, auditing, tax rules, and practices, as well as the role of accountants in various contexts.
What Will My Study Involve?
The study of accounting involves learning about:

- Eligibility for provisional membership with professional accounting bodies, such as Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), CPA Australia, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)

- ACCT222: Management Accounting
300-level
- Four 300-level ACCT courses
For provisional membership with professional accounting bodies, students must include specific courses in their degree, in addition to the Accounting major requirements.
Accounting Minor
The Accounting minor in the Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Digital Screen, Health, Product Design, Science, Social and Environmental Sustainability, Sport, or Youth and Community Leadership requires the following courses:
