Program Overview
Introduction to Game Arts
The Game Arts program focuses on the visual aspects of video games, including believable environments and relatable characters. This program teaches conceptual art design for world-building and characters, as well as technical skills in designing environments, rendering cutscenes, digital sculpting, and more.
What Will My Study Involve?
- Learn to create dynamic worlds
- Develop skills in 2D and 3D art using industry-standard tools
- Collaborate on projects from the second year, designing games up to the working prototype stage
- Access to dedicated spaces, including game development labs and edit suites

Game Arts Major
For the major in the Bachelor of Digital Screen with Honours, complete the following courses:
- 200-level:
- PROD221 Game Design in Context
- PROD222 Game Project Studio 1
- PROD241 Character Design
- PROD244 Lighting and Rendering
- 300-level:
- PROD341 Cinematics and Visual Effects
- PROD342 Digital Sculpting
- PROD344 World Building At the 400-level, compulsory courses in the degree will focus on Game Arts projects.
Game Arts Minor
For the minor in the Bachelor of Digital Screen with Honours, complete 75 points of courses chosen from the options, with 45 points above 100-level. A maximum of 15 points can be chosen from approved courses.
For the minor in the Bachelor of Arts, Commerce, Health, Product Design, Science, Social and Environmental Sustainability, Sport, or Youth and Community Leadership, complete the following courses:
- PROD121 The Game Development Process
- PROD142 2D and 3D Art for Game and Film
- 45 points of courses chosen from the options, with a maximum of 15 points from approved courses
