Introduction to Screen Sound
The Screen Sound program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in audio recording, post-production processes, and sound mixing techniques. This program is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in the film, television, and video game industries.
What Will My Study Involve?
As a student in the Screen Sound program, you will learn about the processes behind recording, sourcing digital music, and editing sound for various media. You will have access to industry-standard software, studio equipment, and recording hardware, allowing you to work on projects and graduate with a portfolio of your work. The program will also provide you with access to sound recording studios, sound stages, voice-over and dubbing studios, and other facilities.
Courses
The Screen Sound major in the Bachelor of Digital Screen with Honours requires the completion of the following courses:
- DISC230 Screen Sound Project 1
- DISC231 Sound Capture
- DISC232 Sound Design and Editing
- DISC234 Sound Design 2
- MUSA229 Introduction to Game Audio At the 300-level, compulsory courses will focus on Screen Sound projects, including:
- DISC331 Creative Sound Studio
- DISC332 Sound Mixing for Film and Games
For the minor in the Bachelor of Digital Screen with Honours, you must complete 75 points of courses chosen from the options, with 45 points above 100-level. A maximum of 15 points can be chosen from approved courses or any other 100 to 200-level MUSA courses.
