Program Overview
Introduction to Moving Images
The Moving Images program at the University of Canterbury offers students the opportunity to study film and video production, developing their own film portfolio. This program explores the world of film through its history, critical discussions, contemporary artists, and technologies.
What Will My Study Involve?
- Studio work and group projects to develop skills as a filmmaker
- Use of on-campus lighting and greenscreen stages, sound studios, editing suites, and 24-hour access to film studio spaces
- Opportunity to take other courses of interest alongside Moving Images studies, such as Psychology, Music, and History

Moving Image Major
For the major in the Bachelor of Fine Arts, students must complete the following courses:
- 200-level:

- MOVI212 Film 2B
- One 200-level ARTH or CINE course
- 300-level:
