Program Overview

The Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary) is a professional qualification that prepares students for a rewarding career as a primary school teacher. This degree takes three years of full-time study or can be studied part-time for up to six years.

Program Structure

The program is available on campus in tautahi Christchurch or by distance study. For distance study, students must reside in Aotearoa New Zealand and:

• Attend on-site intensives (OSI) in tautahi Christchurch, including an OSI at the beginning of the program
• Undertake a community engagement course
• Undertake professional practice placements in schools in Aotearoa New Zealand

Campus-Specific Details

If students are enrolled at the Whakat Nelson Campus, they will complete a blended model of online and face-to-face courses.

Program Requirements

To complete the program, students must fulfill the requirements outlined above, including attending on-site intensives, community engagement, and professional practice placements.
