Introduction to WiE CAN

The WiE CAN program is an annual 5-day/4-night residential program designed for female students interested in engineering. The program features interactive workshops, inspiring presentations, and fun social activities, providing an immersive experience of student life and the range of engineering subjects offered at the University of Canterbury.

  • Date: 11-15 January 2026
  • Location: University of Canterbury, Christchurch
  • Accommodation: Tupunuku

Cost and Travel

  • Cost: FREE, with accommodation and meals provided by the University of Canterbury from afternoon tea on Sunday, 11 January, to morning tea on Thursday, 15 January.
  • Travel: Attendees are responsible for their travel to and from the camp, with assistance for travel expenses available for those experiencing financial hardship.

  • Applications open: 21 July
  • Applications close: 29 August, 6 pm
  • Successful applicants notified: By 19 September

  • Female students completing Year 12 in 2025 at a New Zealand high school
  • Currently studying physics and maths
  • Interested in exploring the opportunities in engineering
  • Looking for a fun challenge during the summer holidays
